TAMPA BAY FAMILY BUSINESS WINS SECOND PRESTIGOUS WORLD YACHTS TROPHY AT THE CANNES BOAT SHOW - October 1, 2007
(Lazzara Yacht Corporation, Tampa, FL) - The World Yachts Trophy for Open Yacht Under 24 Meters-Most Innovative Yacht was awarded to Lazzara Yachts for its stunning LSX Quad 75 on September 15th, 2007 in Cannes, France, by Jan Coopens, president of Audi, France and Michel Karsenti, president of Lux Media Group. The LSX Quad 75 is a 75-foot open yacht. LSX is actually an acronym for "Lazzara Sport eXpress". The Lazzara 75 LSX brings several innovative ideas to the marketplace. One of the most noteworthy is that is it the first large yacht to use 4 Volvo powered IPS drives. The IPS is a total fly by wire system that allows the captain to maneuver using a joystick control. The yacht can literally be driven sideways which makes docking a lot easier. Other notable features include up to 40% better fuel economy, with extremely low exhaust and none of the vibration or noise associated with traditional stern-driven yachts. The smaller footprint of the Volvo Penta engines allows for more living space aboard the LSX. Innovative design features of the yacht include an articulated glass helm station, stern windows that electronically go from tint to clear to allow natural light in the engine room, electronically tinted windows in the amidships hallway that allow guests aboard either privacy or a view through the center of the vessel, and a magnificent lower galley with dining that gives the LSX a spacious loft-like feeling! Lazzara Yachts is an American shipyard located in Tampa, Florida. Established in 1991, the company has grown to produce six distinct models of world-class yachts and employs close to 500 people, including the third generation of Lazzara family boat builders spanning 50 years. From concept to christening almost every aspect of manufacturing happens right here in Tampa. The Yachts Trophy Awards are an annual competition held during the Cannes Boat Show and sponsored by Yachts Magazine Group, Audi, Blancpain, France Galop, Opacmare, Pioneer and Vertu. The award was presented to Dick Lazzara at a ceremony and dinner on the famous Boulevard de la Croisette. This was the second nomination and win for Lazzara Yachts in as many years. In 2006 the Lazzara 84 motor yacht won a World Yachts Trophy for best in class. This year's honor marks the first time in the award's history that an American company has won back-to-back trophies. Lazzara Yachts would to thank the jury and sponsors in recognition of this prestigious award. Lazzara Yachts is recognized worldwide as the leading builder of luxury motor yachts and sport yachts!
